Q: What is the difference between CPA Crane Hire and a CPA Contract Lift?
Under standard CPA Crane Hire, we provide the mobile crane and qualified operator, while you provide the Appointed Person (AP), lift plan, insurance, and rigging crew to direct the operation. Under a CPA Contract Lift, JK Crane Hire takes full responsibility for the entire lifting operation: we supply the Appointed Person, generate bespoke CAD lift plans, produce RAMS, manage quayside or site risk, provide all rigging personnel, and supply statutory lifting insurance.
Q: What crane capacities, rigging equipment, and lift planning services do you offer?
We operate a versatile modern mobile crane fleet ranging from 35-tonne city and all-terrain cranes up to 250-tonne heavy lift units (with larger capacities up to 1000t accessible on request). Every complex lift is engineered using 3D CAD lift planning software to calculate ground bearing pressures, outrigger loads, boom clearance, and radius limits. We also supply certified spreader beams, test weights, and specialized rigging tackle.
Q: What safety standards, accreditations, and operator certifications do you hold?
Safety and regulatory compliance underpin all operations. We operate strictly under BS 7121 (Code of Practice for Safe Use of Cranes) and LOLER 1998 regulations, backed by ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 accreditations. All operational staff—including Appointed Persons, Crane Supervisors, and Slinger/Signallers—are fully CPCS certified with extensive experience across civil engineering, industrial, and energy sites.
Q: Which geographical areas do you cover, and do you offer specialist port support?
Operating from our primary depot in Whitecairns, Aberdeen, we serve clients across North East Scotland, the Highlands, and central Scotland. For specialized quayside, marine mobilisation, and harbour operations, our service is supported by our dedicated port division, Aberdeen Harbour Services.
